Dr Bowe: We're unaffected and I wouldn't pay anyway

It's business as usual at the busy practice of Dr Stephen Bowe in Selskar in Wexford despite the cyber security threat which is threatening health services all over the globe. Dr Bowe said that staff at the practice had updated its security first thing on Monday morning.

He said: 'It hasn't affected us one iota. We updated our security system and complied with all the checks and regulations. Our system is totally safe and we are just operating as normal.'

Dr Bowe said if he is threatened by the hackers behind the ransomware he wouldn't pay, saying 'if you rob an orchard you just keep going back'. He said anyone who paid over a ransom could potentially be targeted again because they could be seen as an easy target.
