Drink driver banned
A WEXFORD man convicted of being drunk in charge of a vehicle has been banned from driving for three years and fined €300. Paul Kelly (39), of Ballindinas, pleaded guilty to the charge at Wexford District Court.
It related to an incident at Harpoonstown, Bridgetown, on February 8 last, when the Gardaí received a report about a crashed car.
A breath sample revealed a concentration of 70 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of breath, a level that brings with it a mandatory three-year ban. The court heard the defendant had no previous convictions. Ed King, for Kelly, said his client was a father-of -two and a self-employed businessman, so the loss of his licence would have a huge effect on him.
Mr King said summer is a busy time for Kelly and so he was seeking a postponement of the driving ban until September, an applicationgranted by Judge William Earley.
