Drunk driver was on wrong side of the road

A MAN who was driving on the wrong side of the road while over the limit was put off the road and fined when he appeared before Judge Gerard Haughton at last week's sitting of Wexford District Court.

Wieslaw Piotrowski (39), 2 Meadowvale, Coolcotts, Wexford, was charged with dangerous driving and drunken driving at Crescent Quay on February 5, 2012.

The court heard Piotrowski came around a bend on Crescent Quay on the wrong side of the road hitting another car.

He had a blood alcohol concentration of 191mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.

Acting for Piotrowski solicitor June O'Hanlon said her client was not a regular drinker and the alcohol had a 'very significant effect on him'.

She said the divorced father-of-two had no previous convictions and showed genuine remorse.

Judge Gerard Haughton fined him €400 in respect of each of the charges and put him off the road for three years for drunken driving and two years for dangerous driving.
