Duncannon Fort open again for guided tours

FOLLOWING the success of last year's guided tours of Duncannon Fort, Hook Tourism is once again partnering with Wexford County Council to offer guided tours for the summer season, beginning this week.

The important star shaped historical site will be open seven days, offering tours daily, sharing a selection of fascinating stories from this impressive site's history. Sitting within the Ireland's Ancient East branding, Duncannon Fort's tour will complement the existing strong heritage offering of the Hook Peninsula and County Wexford.

Hook Tourism Chairman David Neville said: 'We are delighted to once again be licenced to deliver these tours. Last year's pilot was incredibly successful; our trip advisor page was flooded with five star reviews confirming that we had met our goal of offering a high quality visitor experience and the project created two seasonal part-time jobs.'

Hook Tourism plans to recruit a third guide for the busier months of July and August which will allow for tours to be doubled in these months. Duncannon Fort opens for tours from Monday, May 15, until Sunday, September 3. For more information see www.duncannonfort.ie or call Hook Tourism on 051 389530.
