Castlebridge ICA and Day Care Centre presented three local charities with cheques after a successful cookery demonstration with Edward Hayden that was held in the Riverbank House Hotel, Wexford.

The proceeds raised, €4,624, were spilt between Wexford Marine Watch who received €1,162, Castlebridge Day Care Centre got €2,300 and Hope Cancer Support Centre were presented with €1,162.

Edward is a well-known food writer and chef, often spotted on TV3's Ireland AM with his own cookery slot or can be heard on various radio stations.

'Edward cooked seven dishes for us and we raffled them off at the end of the day, along with the other 20 spot prizes we had from local businesses,' said committee member Theresa Roche.

Dishes at the cookery demo included a spat chcock chicken, lamb koftafs, penne pasta with sweet chilli prawns, chick pea curry with spinach and potato, muffuletta, parmesan crusted pork and Edward's pavlova layered cake.

Theresa said George Lawlor kindly gave his time to be MC at the event.
