Eighth parade in Carrig-On-Bannow

By Sara Gahan

CARRIG-ON-BANNOW

Carrig-On-Bannow will have its eighth St Patrick's Day Parade at 2 p.m. which is an occasion that has proven to be very popular over the years.

All of the floats and the marchers taking part will meet in the school field no later than 1.45 p.m.

There are several local groups taking part in the parade this year with other organisations from across Duncormick, Rathangan and Ballymitty, including national schools, GAA clubs, and some dancing schools.

The route will start at the school field, go down through the village, and then back around to go back to the school field so people can get a second view of the parade.

There will be an award for the 'Best Float' presented by Fred Curtis, with 20 other award categories to be won.

Entertainment will start after the parade and will end at 5 p.m. There will be clowns, balloons, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, a magician and some music.

For anyone riving to the parade, there will be parking arrangements on either side of the village.
