Epic 'Hot to Trot' trip nets €10k
IT WAS once a favoured mode of transport around the highways and byways of Ireland, but these days, it's a great way of getting people to dig deep for charity.
The Rathangan Hot to Trot Group, who recently took eight horses and traps all the way from Wexford to the Puck Fair in Killorglin, Co. Kerry, were delighted to report that their epic trip amassed a whopping €10,000 for Wexford Hospice Homecare. Members of the group presented the cheque in Tullycanna at the weekend.
The Rathangan fundraisers took eight horses and ponies all the way to Kerry on a six day trip, covering 160 miles. They broke the journey up into stages, giving the horses plenty of rest along the way. The horses were fed and watered by generous local farmers along the route.
The group was delighted with how well their fundraising efforts went and thanked everyone who helped make the event such a success.
