Composer Greg French will be hoping his song hits all the right notes on Thursday night at the Eurovision semi finals.

Greg, from Bannow, co-wrote 'Playing with Numbers' which will be performed before a TV audience of tens of millions during Thursday night's semi final by teenager Molly Sterling.

Speaking from Vienna yesterday (Monday), Greg said the final preparations are being added to the production and that the Irish entry could well be a contender, although he said there is some strong competition. Molly's performance will be recorded tomorrow for the jury vote.

Meanwhile, Wexford impressario and impersonator Declan Breslin is hosting a 'Eurovision Extravaganza' at the Wexford Arms on Saturday night.

So instead of sitting back at home and watching it all happen on TV as events unfold in Vienna, this is your opportunity to rub shoulders with local performers as they play and perform some of the music we have come to love from Eurovisions over the years.

Guitarist Ger Byrne will be MC on the night, with Linda McCracken performing the 1992 Eurovision hit 'Why Me.' Sharon Fitzgerald will perform 'Waterloo' while Ger Byrne, a friend of 1994 performer Charlie McGettigan, and Dick Murphy will sing 'Rock 'n' Roll Kids'. A man of many voices, Declan will take the part of Johnny Logan.

The show is due to get under way around 10 p.m.
