Facebook campaign to save rescue service
NEARLY 20,000 have signed up to a Facebook campaign to save the 24 hour Search and Rescue Service for the South East Coast.
Wexford man Frank Flanagan is behind the Facebook campaign, which is gathering members rapidly throughout the south and south east.
'We have 19,700 members this morning (Tuesday), mostly made up of people from Wexford, Waterford and Cork,' said Frank, who adds that there is palpable anger at the suggestion of cutting the SE helicopter SAR service.
The Facebook group page is called 'Save 24 hour Search and Rescue Helicopter Cover in the South East'.
A public protest meeting is being organised through the Facebook page for March 31 in the Tower Hotel, Waterford at 7.30 p.m. All welcome.
