The family of the late George Ross has expressed gratitude to the people involved in creating a mural in his honour in the town.

The mural was unveiled recently in the Faythe and was in recognition of the achievements of Mr Ross and his contribution to the artistic life in the town - especially in terms of music.

The family issued a statement to this newspaper in the wake of the mural being unveiled in which they expressed appreciation to everyone involved in the project.

In the statement they said: 'The Ross family wish to express our deep appreciation and gratitude to all those who participated in recognising his achievements.'

The family also recognised 'the contribution of all the musicians and former colleagues and neighbours who attended the event.'
