Characters from children books could be spotted completing a 5 K sponsored walk to help raise funds for much needed new school books in Scoil Mhuire, Coolcotts.

Over €7,000 was raised for school resources after more than 100 people who attended made a great effort in dressing up as their favourite character from a child's book.

Every year Scoil Mhuire host a themed walk to raise money to help improve the selection of reading material, as reading books help to stimulate the child's imagination. It develops their language, listening skills and expands their understanding of the world.

Scoil Mhuire encourages every child in the school to have a love of reading and as the children go through school they have access to a selection of books with something for everyone.
