Farm sells for €1.2m at auction
A 76-ACRE farm at Tara Hill sold last week in three lots for a total of €1.2 million.
The farm at Ballinglin, sold at auction on the instructions of the representatives of the late William Carthy. Auctioneer Denis Howell said the auction had to be moved to the Loch gcarman Arms, such was the interest in the sale.
On the day, Lot 1, 26 acres with the farm house and sheds, sold for €320,000. Lot 2, 33 acres with a farmyard, sold for €520,000, while Lot 3, 15 acres, sold for €180,000.
Lots 1 and 2, were sold to a Gorey businessman with a farming background, while Lot 3 was bought by an adjoining farmer. There were six bidders on the day, and the land averaged at €13,700 per acre.
The entire property was guided at between €850,000 to €900,000.
