FDYS summer day a huge hit

'BETTER LATE THAN NEVER' was the order of the day in Bishopswater on Saturday as the FDYS West Wexford Youth Project staged a 'summer fun' event at St Joseph's Community Centre.

Forty-five residents from Brendan Corish Gardens, Lee Heights and Walnut Grove attended the event, which was run as part of the project's outreach programme and had to be postponed from a more 'summery' date recently!

However, the weather co-operated and during the day participants enjoyed a barbeque and a variety of activities including football, face painting and circus skills.

CEO of FDYS Kieran Donohoe said he was delighted with the summer fun day, which he hailed as 'a huge success'. He said that he is determined that the FDYS will continue this kind of work with young people across Wexford.

Therese White and Paula Ironside, who organised the event, said they were thrilled with the enthusiasm shown by all involved.

The two ladies also would like to thank FDYS, Wexford VEC and Wexford Community and Enterprise Board who provided the vital funding and staff for the occasion.

Anyone interested about the FDYS and its services can contact the FDYS in Francis Street, Wexford, on 053-9123262 or FDYS West Wexford Youth Project on 053-9145891 for more information.
