Fined on drugs charge

A BARNTOWN man was bought almost € 500 worth of drugs in a head shop was fined € 200 at last week's sitting of Wexford District Court.

Edward Reddy ( 31), Keelogues, Barntown was charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of sale or supple at 10 New Houses, Ballyhine, Barntown on January 21, 2011.

The court heard gardai had found € 477 worth of mephedrone belonging to Reddy.

Acting for Reddy solicitor June O'Hanlon said Reddy had never been in trouble before.

She said Reddy had previously cycled competitively and had competed the FBD Ras.

She said that Reddy had gotten 'caught up in drugs' four or five years ago as a result of family difficulties. ' He strikes me as a vulnerable individual', she said.

Judge Gerard Haughton imposed a fine of € 200.
