Five medals for Monart
The culinary team at Monart Destination Spa, Enniscorthy, were awarded five medals at CATEX 2017, Ireland's largest food service and hospitality show which took place in the RDS, Dublin.
The National Championships is home to the annual Irish Barista and Cocktail Championship and also the prestigious Chef Ireland Culinary Competitions.
Organised by Chef Ireland, 1,000 chefs went head to head in a series of competitions over three days. Chef Noel Hynes was awarded a gold medal in the 'Irish Fish' competition and also won bronze in the 'Mystery Basket' competition.
Noel had just 30 minutes to prepare and serve his own Irish fish dish recipe in the first competition heat, he was then selected the winner of his competition heat and went on to battle it out with Chefs from across the country in the final.
Chef de Partie Zamri Sani won silver at the 'Open Irish Fish' competition, Pastry Chef Sven Herreman won bronze in the 'Mystery Basket' and a certificate of honour in the 'Open Hot Dessert' and Chef de Partie Lorna Rochford was awarded a bronze medal in the 'Cook Serve' competition.
'They carry out tremendous work every day serving award winning food here at Monart. It is wonderful to see a competition like this recognise the teams very high standards; and for our Chefs to have a fantastic opportunity to showcase their passion for great food,' said Owner Liam Anthony Griffin.
