Fledgling charity in appeal for storage space
A Wexford woman has decided to set up a charity after she was overwhelmed with donations following an appeal to help hard-up people.
But first Ursula Warren, from M2 Construction, says she needs the offer of a storage unit to store the furniture and other second-hand goods that have been donated until they are distributed.
'We've been doing this for a couple of months now, collecting furniture to bring the plight of people into focus,' she told this newspaper.
'I din't realise that is was going to get this big.. we have donated clothing and furniture stored all over at the moment and urgently need a storage unit, but so far we have been turned away everywhere we go. We don't need a huge storage unit, just somewhere to keep things,' she said.
Her own shed in at her home in Liam Mellows Park is packed from floor to ceiling.
'The stage we are at now is that we are setting up a charity, but it's going to take a couple of weeks and for now we are stuck.'
Ursula says she has already helped two families with much-needed furniture and is aware of many more needing help and assistance.
Among business people helping out with donations is Wexford's Colman Doyle who presented Ursula with more than 100 mattresses, but just where to store such a bounty as well as an almost daily is proving a big problem for the the fledgling charity.
'There are loads of storage units around Wexford, but obviously we haven't got to the right person yet,' she said.
