NEW ROSS was paid a lflying visit by acclaimed footballer Steven Gerrard, captain of Liverpool FC and captain of England at Euro 2012, as he was introduced to the Creacon Lodge Retreat Centre.

His visit to Creacon Lodge coincided with a weekend of charity events in support of Irish Autism Action and the Steven Gerrard Foundation to raise awareness and funds for these causes.

Owner of Creacon Lodge, Ambassador to Charity 25 and involved with Irish Autism Action (IAA), Derek O'Neill, recently earned one of the highest accolades that can be bestowed on an individual, the Variety International Humanitarian Award. Past winners include Simon Cowell, Bob Hope, Dr. Henry Kissinger, Audrey Hepburn, Frank Sinatra, and Sir Winston Churchill to name a few.

Derek participated in the weekend charity events in support of IAA and the Steven Gerrard Foundation.

Attendees played a very wet charity golf tournament on the Friday and a football tournament in Dublin the Saturday, where participants included comedian and recent BAFTA winner Brendan O'Carroll as well as actor and singer, Keith Duffy.

'Gerrard's trip to Creacon Lodge via helicopter will hopefully be one of many as we all need some rest and relaxation, especially if you are in the limelight and work as hard as he does,' said Derek O'Neill

Creacon Lodge is now a retreat centre that provides an ethos of self reflection and relaxation as well as meals, beautiful gardens, and classes, workshops, and complementary therapies to enjoy.

'Gerrard truly enjoyed his trip to Creacon commenting on the beauty of the grounds, the comfort of the Lodge, the wonderful exotic smells of incense and of course the friendly and helpful staff,' added Derek.

A few lucky guests received autographs from Gerrard and all commented on how very humble, warm and friendly he is.

'One aspect of Creacon Lodge is that you never know who you are going to bump into but unlike this visit to raise awareness, your stay will remain confidential,' he added.
