THE LEINSTER Ladies' Football Council launched their championships in Dr. Cullen Park in Carlow recently.

Wexford will be competing in the Junior championship with five other teams.

Kilkenny played Wicklow and Offaly played Louth last weekend and the winners play each other in one semi-final, while Carlow host Wexford in the other.

These games will be played this weekend and Wexford will be hoping to emulate the men in overcoming the Barrowsiders and progressing to the Leinster final which is on July 17 in Dr. Cullen Park.

The Wexford girls managed to retain their Division 3 status in what was a very competitive league, and the management team of Larry Doyle, Peter Rice, Rachel Power and Fran Fitzhenry are happy with the progress the team has made since the start of the year.

They will be very much hoping they can beat Carlow in Dr. Cullen Park on Sunday (2 p.m.) and put them in with a chance of winning the Leinster Junior Cup which they last held in 2006.

TG4 All-Ireland Junior championship fixtures: July 23/24, away to Derry; August 6/7, home to Wicklow; August 14, away to Offaly.
