Fr Aodhán Marken to mark his silver jubilee this weekend
A well-known Wexford priest is to mark a major milestone this weekend as he celebrates the silver jubilee of his ordination to the priesthood.
An extremely popular character in Wexford, Fr Aodhán Marken is to mark 25 years in the priesthood, with 21 of them served in Wexford town. Members of the parish are invited to get together to celebrate the milestone this Saturday and Sunday.
Firstly, there will be a special Mass of thanksgiving on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. in Bride Street Church, which will be celebrated by Bishop Denis Brennan.
This will be followed by a reception in The Talbot Hotel immediately afterwards and all are welcome to attend and mark the occasion with Fr Aodhán and his family.
On Sunday, Fr Aodhán himself will celebrate a special Mass at 12 noon in Rowe Street Church and again all are welcome to come along and play a part.
Issuing the invitation, Chairman of the Parish Committee Mr Bernard Doyle took the opportunity to thank Fr Aodhán for his dedicated service to Wexford Parish and the Diocese of Ferns and it is hoped that the popular priest will have a weekend to remember.
