FRANCES Ryan, from Elm Lawn, Castlebridge, was in great form for her 90th birthday.

The big day started with mass in Trinity Church on Saturday evening beautifully celebrated by Fr Robert McGuire. Some of Frances' favorite church hymns were sung by George Lawlor, who was accompanied on the keyboards by her grandson Andrew.

The mass was followed by a party in Murphy's Barn Skeeterpark, a place where she worked when she was younger. Frances also worked in Cadogan's Pub and Grocery, now the old Regal Lodge. Among those attending was school pal from Trinity School, Maggie Morrissey, from Camross.

Frances was joined in the celebrations by daughters Jackie, Mary and Trish their husband's Gerard, Michael and Glan, her grandchildren Andrew, Rebecca and Jonny, Andrew's wife Claire and their children Michael, Matthew and Charlotte, other relations, friends and neighbours.

She really enjoyed the party and was very surprised by a special performance by country singer Paddy O'Brien with music provided by Theresa and The Stars.

Frances said she wanted to thank all who attended for their well wishes and gifts and who made the occasio so memorable.
