Further calls for a bus shelter at hospital

WEXFORD Borough Council has called on Bus Eireann to install a bus shelter outside Wexford General Hospital.

Fine Gael councillor Jim Allen who lives on Newtown Road said he regularly sees people waiting for buses in all weathers.

'A lot of people travel to the hospital by bus and there is no shelter for them,' he told a Borough Council meeting.

Cllr. Allen said a local resident approached him after seeing a girl with her arm in a cast waiting in heavy rain for a bus.

Cllr. Padge Reck Ind. said he estimated that this was at least the eighteenth motion calling for a bus shelter in Newtown Road to come before the Borough Council.

'And it's the 35th or 36th when you add in the number of motions brought before the County Council as well.'

'Getting Bus Eireann or Iarnrod Eireann to do anything is nearly impossible,' said Cllr. Reck.

Cllr. Allen's motion was unanimously supported by the Borough Council.
