Future of seal sanctuary being discussed

THE BOARD of Gorey Courtown Forest Park has said it is working on plans for the former Irish Seal Sanctuary site behind the Forest Park Leisure Centre, and these plans may include the care of seals.

Forest Park Chairman Tony Sutton said this week that they are exploring several different options at present, and that an announcement could be made within six weeks.

The news came after the founder of the Irish Seal Sanctuary Brendan Price called for the facility to be reopened for the care of seals, since seals found on beaches are currently being transported to Dingle or the UK.
