Gardening magic as Killinick club comes to Johnstown

By David tucker

The Irish Agricultural Museum at Johnstown Castle is once again the venue for the Annual Gardening Show organised by Killinick and District Gardening Club. Visitors are invited to come along on Sunday, September 11, between 9.30 a.m. and 5 p.m. and enjoy the show.

There is no additional charge for the show as admission is included with the standard 'gardens only' ticket into the grounds.

As well as displays of home grown fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers, visitors will be able to see competition-winning flower arrangements, home-made preserves and pot plants. The results of the 'Potato Championships' and the children's sunflower competition will also be on show.

In the courtyard there will be stalls selling locally grown produce and plants of both unusual and popular varieties. There will also be live music in the courtyard to add to the colourful and vibrant atmosphere.

The Peacock Tearoom will be open throughout the day serving a range of refreshments including light lunches and a delicious range of homemade cakes and deserts. A perfect way to treat yourself after a stroll around the gardens!

Admission to Johnstown Castle Gardens is €3 for adults, €2 for seniors and €1 for children aged 5 to 16. Under 5s are free.
