Gold medals all around for Glynn National School pupils
It was a great team effort from Glynn National School pupils who were the overall winners at the DMP Athletic Club sports day, where they competed against five other primary schools from around Wexford.
More than 500 children from Piercestown NS, Murrintown NS, The Faythe, St Iberius School, Gaelscoil and Glynn NS took part in various events which was all sponsored by Wexford Bus.
Each child from a class had to compete in one event to win points for their school: first place - 3 points, second place - 2 points and third place - 1 point.
Games included a 500 metre race, 850 metre race, high jump, long jump, shot putt and javelin with teachers from the different schools also competing in a race at the end of the day.
Chairman for DMP Athletic Club Mick Farrell said: 'It is a unbelievable day and it is great to see the team effort. The children really enjoy it, it is growing year by year and we only started this five years ago when two schools were joking about who would beat who in a challenge.'
Mick also said if any local schools are interested in taking part next year they can contact him on, 087 6211432.
