Golden girl Bronwyn wins national award
FIRST MEMBER OF GUIDES UNIT TO EARN TITLE
WEXFORD TEENAGER Bronwyn Murphy is the golden girl of her Girl Guide unit after winning a national award.
Bronwyn was the only guide in Ireland to receive a Gold Award from the Chief Commissioner in a recent competition.
The awards were open to all guides who had received their Bronze medal.
A total of 15 girls from units around the country were eligible to enter.
Of these 14 were presented with silver medals. Bronwyn was the only one to receive gold.
The girls worked on various projects and challenges during the year to put their skills to the test.
They were then interviewed by the Chief Commissioner and the National Commissioner for Guides.
The awards ceremony took place in the Gresham Hotel in Dublin where Bronwyn was presented with her Gold pin, a special certificate and a bunch of flowers carefully chosen in her company colours.
Bronwyn is a member of St. Aidan's Guides in Wexford town. She is the only member of her unit ever to receive the award and is also the only recipient ever in the Diocese of Ferns.
