Greenfingered winners rewarded at 'In Bloom' prize giving evening
THE WINNERS of the school and community categories for Wexford in Bloom received their prizes and certificates at a ceremony at Wexford Borough Council on Monday.
Mayor of Wexford Davy Hynes was on hand to dole out the honours to the various green-fingered winners, who all did their bit to make Wexford that bit more colourful and attractive in 2011.
Taking the Gold in the schools category were the pupils of Kennedy Park NS, with the Silver going to St John of God NS, The Faythe, and the Bronze went to The Mercy, St John's Road.
There was a special judge's award for the efforts of Scoil Mhuire, Coolcotts, while the merit award went to Wexford CBS primary school.
In the community gardens category the Gold was presented to Ozanam House for its beautiful community garden. Southend Community Resource Centre took the Silver and the merit award went to the community garden in Wolfe Tone Villas.
This year's successful Wexford Bloom competition was sponsored by Wexford Borough Council, Wexford Credit Union, Drinagh Garden Centre, Ballykelly Garden Centre and Hassett's Pharmacy.
The awards in the other categories in the competition were presented earlier this year.
