Guided tour of Council's impressive art collection
WOULD YOU like a guided tour of Wexford County Council's impressive art collection?.
The first official tour of the Municipal Art Collection in its new home at County Council headquarters in Carricklawn, will be held on Friday, November 4 at 11 a.m.
Anyone interested in taking part should email firstname.lastname@example.org to register for a place.
The collection contains pieces by such noted artists as Neil Shawcross, Louis le Brocquy, Colin Davidson and Mary Swanzy. It is one of the best art collections assembled by a county council anywhere in the country.
A further 10 art works currently on loan from the AIB collection of modern Irish art can also be seen during the tour.
The guided tour will be given by the Wexford art historian Mairead Furlong.
According to County Arts Officer Sinead Redmond, the spacious new building which maximises natural lighting, is a perfect place to display art.
Of 150 art works in the overall collection, more than 100 have been placed in the new county buildings.
' The collection is one of the strongest owned by a county council nationally and deserves attention,' said Sinead.
