Homelessness in County Wexford is at crisis levels, due to an ineffective housing policy, according to Cllr Davy Hynes.

Cllr Hynes said council staff are 'fire fighting' the homelessness issue.

'They just don't have the time,' he said, adding that the local authority is not funded enough to resolve the crisis.

Director of Service for Housing, Community, Libraries, Arts, Emergency Services & Environment John Carley said council staff are dealing with homelessness cases on a daily basis. Afterwards criticism was aired about a perceived lack of updates from the council about housing, Mr Carley said more detailed, laid out reports will be produced.
