WEXFORD hotelier Billy Devereux has welcomed the decision by An Bord Pleanala which has cleared the way for the Meadows and Byrne development.

Mr. Devereux, who had opposed the plans and lodged objections with the council and An Bord Pleanala, said on Friday that he was now happy withthe ruling by the planning appeal board 'and the special conditions attached to it'.

'I wish Bill Kelly and his family every success with this new restaurant,' said Mr. Devereux.

'Since re-opening and refurbishing the Farmer's Kitchen in October last year, we have brought 27 jobs to the area and we will be increasing this number for the summer/autumn period.

'We have plans for continued investment in the Hotel and we are committed to supporting local contractors and suppliers.

'We look forward to working with Bill Kelly, The Hennessy Garden Centre and Meadows & Byrne in making Drinagh a more vibrant area.'

Among the conditions is one that the restaurant shall not operate independently of the sho unit and shall not open outside the hours of opening of the shop unit.
