House rule explained

COUNCIL houses are not available for people who own family homes, even where marriages have broken down and they can no longer reside there. That was the rule explained to the elected members of Wexford County Council last week by housing official Maeve O'Brien.

She confirmed that owning a property precludes a person from consideration for allocation of social housing. This applies until the courts have dealt with consideration of property matters in family law proceedings.
