in a tangible sign of a hugely improving economy and property market in Wexford, virtually all the houses in the first phase of a new luxury 17-house development on the Newtown Road have been sold 'off plan'.

And further evidence of the growing strength in the local property market is the 13.2 per cent increase in the numbers of houses sold in the county during the first quarter of the year, compared to the same period last year.

Work is currently under way on the first phase of the 15 detached and two semi-detached houses in the Cois na hAbhann development on a prime site on the Newtown Road, which is being developed by Dermot Bolger's Waterford-based Garman Properties Ltd. and which is being sold by John Keane auctioneers.

Priced at between €259,000 and €289,000, the four-bedroom detached houses range from 1348.77 square feet to 2124.98 square feet. Meanwhile, Daft.ie says rents in County Wexford have risen by between 11 per cent and more than 15 per cent in the past year.
