Hunt master calls it a day

A RETIREMENT party took place recently for John Stafford who is stepping down as Hunt Master of the Killinick Harriers after serving 23 years.

A portrait by local artist Paddy Lennon, himself a member of the Killinick Harriers, was presented to John by chairman of the Hunt Club Jimmy Deveraux. Mr Deveraux thanked John for his 23 years as hunt master and 7 years as a whip before that with the late Matt Roche, whose son John Roche is the new Hunt Master.

He also commented on the fact that Mr Stafford had scarcely ever missed a day's hunting, and that his staff and horses were extremely well turned out at all hunt meets.
