I'm glad I trained for walk on Great Wall, says jeweller
WEXFORD jeweller Frank Hynes is glad he trained for the Great Wall of China walk he completed recently for the National Children's Hospital in Tallaght.
Frank walked in Glendalough on his day off every Wednesday to build up stamina for the challenge and it helped a lot. 'I'm glad I trained for it. There were a lot of steps involved. One morning, we had to climb 2,000 steps before continuing on the walk,' he said.
The Main Street businessman extended thanks this week to everyone who donated money to his appeal on behalf of the hospital and helped him to raise €11,500.
The group of 23 who participated in the walk collected a total of €75,000 between them.
'I'm grateful to everyone who supported me. I couldn't have done it without them,' said Frank, who paid his own expenses for the trip.
