Important New Ross projects delay concern

Concern was expressed by Cllr John Fleming about a perceived delay in progressing several important projects in New Ross.

Cllr Fleming asked when the oil tanks behind the Dunbrody Visitor Centre on the quay will be knocked. 'We are almost half way through the year now and nothing has been done,' he said.

Director of Services for Economic Development Tony Larkin said the projects being rolled out in New Ross are complex in nature and are being overseen by a special projects team. Mr Larkin said: 'We have a small team. The advance technology buildings should be out to public tender this month. We have had a meeting with New Ross Port Company and discussions are going very well. I am not sure when that will happen,' adding that the minister will have to agree the transfer. CEO Tom Enright said: 'We have already had discussions with a number of suitable partners that we would like to engage with on these developments so Tony and his team have been involved in that and a lot of work has been going on in the background and progress is being made.'
