JOHN BROWNE Time to move on
IF BRIAN COWEN really was up until three o'clock in the morning last week at the Ardilaun Hotel in Galway, then Wexford TD John Browne was not in his company. The Enniscorthy politician attended the ' think-in' in the west but he was safely tucked up in his bed, in time to catch the last of Vincent Browne on the television after a chat with former GAA president Joe McDonagh at around 11.30 p.m.
However, Deputy Browne was around in person for the now notorious Morning Ireland interview after rising at seven o'clock to enjoy a short walk. The RTÉ radio programme was broadcast from the hotel's breakfast room and he was not concerned about the standard of his leader's performance at the time. ' Brian Cowen would usually be hoarse in the mornings,' said John Browne. 'He has apologised. What more can he do? He has not lost my confidence. I feel he has explained himself and apologised. Let's move on.'
