Judge refuses to relax bail conditions

A SOUTH Wexford resident failed in his bid to have his strict bail conditions relaxed when he appeared before Wexford District Court.

Damien Fletcher (30), of 122 Laurel Grove, Tagoat, is charged with burglary at Station Road, Rosslare, on December 2 last.

Tim Cummings, for Fletcher, successfully made an application for a Gary Doyle Order (for copies of all statements relating to the case) before Judge Donnchadh O Buachalla, but he had less luck with the bail conditions.

Mr Cummings said his client is currently signing on daily at the Garda station and asked could that be relaxed to three times a week as Fletcher is moving house.

However, Inspector Pat McDonald opposed that application, stating he wouldn't agree to that until Fletcher makes it clear where he's moving to and the Gardaí are satisfied that it's his new address.

Judge O Buachalla put back the case until February 7 and said he will revisit the bail conditions at that stage if Fletcher has satisfied the Gardaí regarding his new living arrangements.
