Judge to sit for last time
O BUACHALLA SET TO RETIRE
JUDGE Donnchadh O Buachalla is expected back in Wexford tomorrow (Thursday) for his last court sitting here before his imminent retirement.
The district court judge has sat on the bench in Co Wexford courts for nearly two decades, but was absent during the weekly special summer sittings following his involvement in a road accident at the end of July.
Judge O Buachalla, who lives in Dublin, was involved in a collision with a jeep and trailer on the Gorey to Wexford road, as he made his way to Wexford town for the New Ross District Court sitting at the courthouse in Ardcavan.
However, he is expected to return to Ardcavan tomorrow for what will be his final sitting in Co Wexford before his retirement after almost two decades serving in Wexford, Enniscorthy, Gorey and New Ross District Courts.
Judge O Buachalla has administered justice in the Model County for the past 18 years, having been appointed to the South East Leinster region in 1993. He qualified as a solicitor in 1968 and was appointed a judge of the District Court in 1989, sitting first for a number of years in Dublin.
