Katie lets go of her locks for a cause

Katie Cloke.

Eight-year old Katie Cloke may have long locks that little girls dream of but she is willing to give it all up for a good cause.

The generous Wexford resident has been growing her golden hair for the last several years and soon hopes to get it chopped for the Rapunzel Foundation. Her ponytail will then be used by the charity to make wigs for those who have suffered from cancer.

'My hair is very long now and I think it's ready to make someone very happy,' she said. 'As well as donating my hair I want to try help raise money to send with it to help the Rapunzel foundation with their amazing work they do.'

Once Katie reaches her €1,000 fundraising target, she will set a date to cut her hair. So far, she has raised over €427 and is asking for people to continue to support her by donating to her Go Fund Me page.

'I believe it's nice to be nice because you never know when you'll need the kindness of a stranger yourself!' she said.
