WEXFORD native Larry Kirwan is keen to promote local talent on his radio show in the US.

The lead singer of Black 47 has issued an open invitation to bands and singers in Wexford who would like their music featured on his 'Celtic Crush' show on SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

'Wexford bands or singers can drop off CDs for me. I'll take a listen for my show and see if I can get some exposure for local acts. It has a big US and Canadian listenership,' says Larry who is coming home to Wexford this weekend for a Gathering special at the Arts Centre.

New solo show 'Foster in the Five Points' runs at the Arts Centre on Saturday night (19th) as Larry presents a 'new form of entertainment' combining music, literature and drama and taking the audience back to the world of Stephen Foster, regarded as the father of American songwriting. The performance will be followed by an acoustic set by the multi-talented Wexford man comprising a selection of his own and Black 47 songs.

Tickets are available from the Arts Centre and online for €15 and €12 (members, senior citizens and students).

Larry's back at Wexford Arts Centre on Sunday at 3 p.m. for a 'Return to Roots' talk, during which he'll discuss a wide range of topics, including his own career with Black 47 and his life as a writer/playwright. Guests will include Hot Press General Manager Jackie Hayden and Wexford writer Billy Roche.

Admission is free of charge to this Gathering event which will also give local solo performers, aspiring singer/songwriters and bands, the opportunity to feature on Larry Kirwan's 'Celtic Crush', the only Celtic rock and traditional radio show broadcast throughout all of North America. It can be heard every Saturday morning and Tuesday night on Sirius XM Satellite Radio with a potential listernship across US and Canada of up to 75 million.

Larry will be collecting CDs on Sunday afternoon with a view to spreading the word about local talent across the Atlantic.
