Blackwater GAA Club have launched their event 'Who Wants to be a Thousandaire?', a fundraiser for money towards their new clubhouse.

With phase one now under way, money raised from the event will go towards the rest of their new indoor hurling training hall and clubhouse.

'The main event will be on April 1 in the Riverside Park Hotel. Tickets are being sold now and cost €15. Hang on to your tickets as this is how you enter the game or you can nominate someone else,' said committee member Paul Murphy.

Paul said they have eight major sponsors contributing €1,000, with more local businesses donating about €300.

'It will be a big event. We will pay Pallas Marketing, who organise the whole lot for us, and then any money raised after that will go to us. Some clubs in Wexford have raised about €60,000 doing this so we said we would give it a go,' said Paul.

The event is based on the game show 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?'. Eight contestants will be drawn out of a hat on the night to take part in the competition with the aim of winning a grand.

Apart from the show, there are lots of other aspects to the night with audience questions for spot prizes, a brilliant card game with excellent prizes, and a bumper raffle.
