Lifeboat crew remember Eddie on way back from callout
The Wexford RNLI Lifeboat launched last Monday at 11.20 a.m. to help a yacht in difficulty at the entrance to Wexford Harbour.
Volunteer crew members David Maguire, Damien Foley, Lorraine Galvin and Martin Conway made their way in to the stricken yacht along with fishing vessel Cecilia. While enroute conditions were deteriorating with South West winds increasing to force 5/6.
The yacht managed to get itself underway and the lifeboat ensured it had a visual and was stood down.
While on its way back the lifeboat paused to remember the late Eddie Ferguson, founder of Wexford Lifeboat in 1998, who was buried last Tuesday. Eddie would have braved any condition to help save lives at sea and his legacy continues.
