Line-up for Relay for Life

The line-up for this year's Relay for Life event features an eclectic line-up of local artists promising something of interest for all discerning music fans. The fun will begin at 2pm on Saturday, July 14, with the Opening Ceremony followed by the Survivors, Carers', and Volunteer Drivers' laps.

The teams will then be called onto the track and the CEO of the Irish Cancer Society, Avril Power, will be in attendance.

Music will play a big part of the event and will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday with Static and ending at 1.30 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, with Extreme Rhythm.

The full line-up will include: Static (3 p.m.); Clancy Sisters (4 p.m.); Frankenstein Bolts (5 p.m.); JMA (7 p.m.); Oyster Lane - the Musicals (8 p.m.); Bride Street Folk Group (9.30 p.m.) - this will lead to the Candle of Hope Ceremony which is a major part of the event and will take place at 10.15 p.m.

That will be followed by two silent laps and then the music will continue with: Bride Street Folk Group (10.45 p.m.); Hayley Crosbie (11 p.m.); Bingo - in the Survivors' Marquee (midnight); Sunday: Film screening (1.30 a.m.); Karaoke (7 a.m.); Brendan Keane & Shane Kenny (8 a.m.); DJ Lee Hynes (9 a.m.); North End cup holders (10.20 a.m.); Borderline (11 a.m.); Princess Trust Awards - for people who donated their hair (12 noon); American Heart (12.30 p.m.); Extreme Rhythm (1.30 p.m.) and the closing ceremony at 1.45 p.m. with a final victory lap at 2 p.m. In addition there will also be a series of fun laps over the weekend beginning with the Rainbow Lap on Saturday at 3 p.m. and ending with a County Colours Lap on Sunday. at 1 p.m.
