As part of its 40th Anniversary celebrations, Wexford Lions Club (WLC) recently added its Charter to Wexford County Council's archives.

The Charter document details the club's foundation and names the first President, Denis Bourke, along with Vice Presidents Dr Robert Doyle and David Gallagher, Treasurer John Wyley, Secretary David Nevins, PRO Michael Murray and 22 further members. Among those listed is Peter Caulfield who remains a member of the Club to this date.

'Wexford County Council Archive actively acquires collections of private origin and acknowledges the generosity and support of the many individuals and organisations that have donated or deposited collections with the Archive since its establishment,' said Grainne Doran, Archivist at Wexford County Council. 'These collections are of social, cultural and historical importance and are preserved and made available for future generations. Our aim is to create a county collection that holds a continuing interest and relevance.'

Gabrielle Willis, President of WLC said, 'We are delighted to have added to this collection and we are currently in the process of creating our own online archive of materials; former members, families and friends of the Club are invited to contact us should they have photos or material that may be of interest.'
