Local charities benefit from two motor shows
The organisers of the Wexford Motor Show (WMS) and the Wexford Sports and Classic Car Club show have presented €7,247.18 to local charities much to the delight of all concerned.
The WMS committee presented Wexford RNLI with a cheque for €1857.77 which included donations from Graham Kennedy and DB Daly's car club. The latter club, which specialises in highly modified top-of-the-range German and Japanese show cars provided a great added spectacle to the overall show which took place on the quayfront in June.
There was also a Cops & Donuts event held in conjunction with the show that raised €2,767 for Special Olympics Ireland and the organisers said it was a great success.
The Wexford Sports and Classic Car Club also held an event, in April, and it presented a cheque for €622.41 to Special Olympics Ireland. The event also raised €1,000 for both Wexford Marine Watch and Wexford Women's Refuge.
A spokesperson for the organising committee of the events commented to this newspaper: 'This was only possible by the generosity of all the people who donated on both show days earlier this year.'
