Man brought to court over woman's death
23-YEAR-OLD KELLY WAS STRUCK BY CAR IN GOREY
A GOREY MAN has been charged with dangerous driving causing the death of Kelly Gregan on Gorey's Main Street last year.
Kelly, (20), from Tara Hill, died after she was struck by a car at Main Street on October 24 last year. Paddy Cash (23) of 81 Raithin Cuilin, Gorey, faced three charges, including dangerous driving causing death, and driving without insurance or a licence.
The court heard that Cash was charged before court that morning, and after caution, he made no reply. Solicitor David Tarrant pointed out his client had gone to the Gardai by appointment, at their request. Gorey Superintendent Maura Lernihan sought a lengthy adjournment to allow for the preparation of the book of evidence.
Judge Donnchadh O Buachalla granted bail on a number of conditions, including that he sign on at Gorey Garda Station each Monday and Friday; that he notify Gardai of any change of address; and that one independent surety of €1,000 be put forward. The defendant's father Martin Cash Snr. agreed to go surety, and bail was granted. Judge O Buachalla also ordered the defendant not to drive any vehicle in the meantime without first producing a valid policy of insurance.
' That won't arise,' said Mr. Tarrant. The case will be called again on April 7 next.
