THE Men's Breakfast group in Piercestown has been officially launched by Denis O'Connor, one of the founders of Men's Sheds in Ireland.

Members of Men's Sheds from throughout the south east were present at the opening at the behest of P.J. Byrne, the founder of the breakfast morning in Piercestown.

P.J. said the idea was for men to get together to combat social and rural isolation.

The launch at the scout and guide hall was attended by around 100 people

'It was a fantastic opportunity for different men's sheds to get together and to share ideas,' said P.J., whose breakfast sessions are attracting between 10 and 15 people a week.

'There's a lot of youth unemployment and we would like to get some younger members too, people aged between 18 and 35,' he said.

P.J. said he wanted to thank all those who donated food on the day of the launch as well as Scallans and Kate's Farm Shop.
