Michael and Gretta's fifty golden years
Michael and Gretta Browne from Clonroche Village celebrated 50 years of marriage at a quiet dinner function with family in Mary Barry's Restaurant, Kilmore.
Gretta, originally from Enniscorthy met Michael from Clonroche at local social dances that were often held around the district, including the Atheneum in Enniscorthy.
Gretta was back-and-forth from England due to work during the five years they were going out before they got married, when she decided to return back home and settle down with her sweetheart in Clonroche Village.
The couple made their vows in St Aidan's Cathedral in Enniscorthy May 17, 1967, followed by a wedding breakfast in the Talbot Hotel, Wexford with a wedding party of 55 invited guests.
When the couple were two years married they welcomed their first born child Patrick Browne but he sadly passed away at infancy. After this heartbreaking loss Gretta gave birth to three more children - Sheelagh, Jim and Mary followed by their first grandaughter Ciara 24 years later.
The family would like to thank friends and relatives for their good wishes and presents.
