Minister for Health confronted by protesters at Wexford General Hospital
HEALTH Minister Leo Varadkar ran the gauntlet of Right2Water protesters during a private and previously unannounced visit to Wexford General Hospital on Friday.
The minister arrived at the hospital shortly after 2 p.m. with placard-wielding protesters, led by Cllr. Deirdre Wadding, providing a noisy reception for his entourage as he was officially greeted by hospital general manager Lily Byrnes.
Accompanied by Minister of State Paul Kehoe, the minister was whisked past the protesters and into the hospital, the new section of which is to be officially opened in June.
Minister Varadkar toured the hospital facilities during his visit which lasted more than two hours.
