Motorists fuming at delays in Ferns
Motorists were left fuming again last week as road works on the outskirts of Ferns village saw significant tailbacks in and out of the village.
The works come at the end of the lengthy road works near Scarawalsh which, on occasion, saw tail backs as far as Ferns.
The road works which were expected to finish up today (Tuesday) saw little evidence of completion on Sunday as heavy rains hampered works on the relatively small stretch of the N11 northbound out of Ferns. As a result it is believed that they will continue until the latter half of the week, at the earliest.
On Friday evening a woman who works in Enniscorthy was travelling to Gorey where she was delayed for half an hour as a result of the works. She said: 'I thought when the roads at Scarawalsh were finished that the delays every morning and evening would be finished but nearly as soon as they were completed they started working on the roads outside of Ferns. It's very frustrating to have to factor an extra 30 minutes every morning and evening just to get to work. It's particularly bad on Friday evenings as the number of cars on the road increases significantly.'
