Much-loved nun Sr Joseph passes away at 97-years of age
Much-loved Sr Mary Joseph Keating from the Perpetual Adoration Convent at Bride Street sadly passed away on Sunday at the great age of 97
Sr Joseph had enjoyed good health up to the time of her passing.
A native of Limerick, Sr Joseph entered the Adoration Convent in Wexford in 1940 and became extremely popular in Wexford. She had a very gentle manner and adored children.
Many parents would bring their sick children to visit Sr Joseph at the convent, where she welcomed them in with open arms. She was well known for looking after the altar in Bride Street Church.
In 1987, she was Reverend Mother when the sisters of the Adoration Convent received the Freedom of the Borough of Wexford.
Sr Mary Joseph will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law Annie, nieces Bridget and Margaret, nephew Michael, grand nephews, grand nieces, Sr Peter and the community of the Perpetual Adoration Convent on Bride Street, relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass takes place today (Tuesday, September 19), at 12 noon, in the Church of the Assumption, Bride Street, with burial afterwards in the Convent Cemetery.
